Zara Dress w/ Isabel

In this class students will sew the Zara Smock Dress by Two Stitches patterns, available is sizes 6 months to 9 years. 

You will learn how to:

• Sew a gathered bodice with a yoke and facing for a classic and comfy smock silhouette.
• Attach gathered 3/4 sleeves.
• Finish the back with a tie fastening.
  

Please note: While the project for this class is a child size dress, this is an adult class. 

Ages 18+

Class Level: Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner classes are designed as “next step” classes to build basic skills. Sewing students must have taken Sewing 101 and/or be comfortable threading their machines and sewing simple projects.

Class Prep:

• Please have your fabric pre-washed and pressed, and pattern pieces cut directly out of the pattern or traced onto pattern paper (to preserve the other sizes so you can make it again as your cutie grows) and cut out. If you trace the pattern onto pattern paper be sure to copy over all markings.
• Instructor Isabel Bozada-Jones will send an email a few weeks before class with information on fabric and some helpful hints to help you prepare for the first class. 
  

Supplies (Not included in the cost of this class, but all materials purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount):

• Printed Zara Smock Dress pattern, available here. 
• Light to medium weight woven fabric in the amount needed for the size you choose (see back of pattern and our staff will gladly assist you!) Good choices are cotton, lawn, and lightweight linen. Double gauze will also be beautiful, but can be a little fussier so is probably a better choice if you are a more experienced sewist.
• Matching thread
• 50 mm of 10 mm flat elastic (staff will help you find the exact right elastic, just ask!)

You will also need to bring:

• Your machine (call the shop if you need to use one of ours during class)
• Pins or wonder clips
