Meet the Owners

Eva Fried and Amy Baden, Owners of Sew to Speak Fabric Store in Columbus, OH. They're holding a quilt outside of the store.

Eva and Amy are a dynamic duo whose love story began in 2009. Both were working in the medical field when they met and continue to share a passion for helping others and living vibrantly. They married in 2013 and nested in Columbus, Ohio, with their 6 outstanding kiddos. Full-time jobs and parenting duties aside, Eva and Amy always managed to prioritize time for creativity — so much so that they set up a dedicated “craft room” in their house. Naturally, visits to Sew to Speak to restock supplies and take classes became routine for the whole family.

As the kids grew and their nest emptied, Eva and Amy felt an entrepreneurial spirit glisten among them. Amy was ready for a new journey to follow her career in organ donation. Eva had grown close with Sew to Speak’s original owner, Anita, a friendship sponsored by years of prolific making. On a walk with Anita, Eva just so happened to learn that the store was up for sale. Eva and Amy seized the opportunity to pour their heart and souls into co-owning the store as the next chapter of their story and haven’t looked back.

Taking on this adventure together has been an incredibly special experience — even their kids are involved! Sew to Speak is Eva and Amy’s home away from home, filled with love and infinite possibilities.

Amy Baden is co-owner of Sew to Speak, offering Juki machines and sewing machine repair in Columbus.

Amy handles all things operations, managing the store, the Stitch Squad, and all customer concerns. Her not-so-guilty pleasure is overhearing the Oohs and Ahhs of happy shoppers when she’s in her office, and she’s become the resident expert in sewing machine repairs.
