The Essential Tote w/ Kam

Elevate your bag-making skills sewing your own Essential Tote with Kam. In this class you will learn to sew this zippered carryall that is perfect for everyday errands, shopping, travel, or carrying your project-in-progress. Techniques you will learn in class include sewing interior pockets and exterior slip pockets, rolled purse handles and a unique top zipper closure that allows easy access to the fully lined bag.

Ages 18+

Class Level: Intermediate

Intermediate level classes are suited for makers who have taken 2-3 Advanced Beginner classes in their craft, and/or have made several projects on their own, and are feeling independent in their skills. Some classes may include pre-class prep to be completed on your own. Sewing students must be comfortable threading their machines, following a seam allowance, changing presser feet, and troubleshooting minor machine issues.

Supplies (Not included, but students will receive a 15% discount when purchased at Sew to Speak):

• 1/3 yd canvas fabric for the base
• 1/3 yd canvas or cotton fabric for the front and back
• 1/4 yd or fat quarter canvas or cotton fabric for the accent pocket (fabric can also be the same as front and back material)
• 1 yd cotton fabric for the lining
• 2 1/4 yd Pellon 911
• 1/2 yd Pelon 987
• 70' 1 1/4' or 1 1/2' webbing for the purse straps
• 18' handbag zipper
• thread(s)

Pattern for the tote will be distributed in class at no cost.
There are a few sewing machines available for class use. Please reserve one  by calling the shoppe if needed.
