If you’ve always wanted to learn to sew, then Sewing School is for you! During this course you'll learn the basics as you complete a variety of projects, designed to build your sewing skills. Projects include a pillowcase, tote bag, and zipper pouch.
If you don't have a sewing machine, we have some available to borrow for this class.
Ages 18+
Skill Level: True Beginner
No skills needed! True Beginner classes are great for beginners with no previous experience or for those who’d like to refresh their skills.

Class Prep: Please prewash your pillowcase fabric before class.
An email will be sent a week before class starts with instructions on what to have ready for the first class.
Supplies (included in the cost of this class):
- Course book: School of Sewing: Learn it, Teach it, Sew Together by Shea Henderson (book is included in the class fee, please pick up in store).
Supplies (not included, but all supplies purchased for this class will receive a 15% discount at Sew To Speak):
Please make sure to follow the supplies list on this website, and not the book.
- Pillow case - 1 1/4 yard of cotton for main fabric, 1/2 yard of cotton of contrast fabric. Fabric should be at least 44" wide. Make sure to choose non-directional prints, and wash your fabric for this project in advance.
- Zipper pouch - 1 fat quarter for exterior, 1 fat quarter for lining, 1 9” all purpose zipper, 1/2 yard of lightweight fusible interface, zipper foot for your machine if you are bringing your own.
- Essential tote bag - 1 yard of a medium weight cotton, canvas, or corduroy for the exterior, 1 yard of cotton for lining interior, 2 yards of 1” cotton webbing for the straps.
- 1 1/2 yards of tracing paper, water soluble marking pen, matching thread for all of your projects.

Class cancellations made within four weeks of the class start date cannot be refunded. We will issue a class credit for a later class with this same instructor.

Class cancellations within 48 hours of the class start date cannot be refunded, credited, or rescheduled.
