Scout Tee w/ Beth

Join Beth to sew a top that is versatile to wear and a good starting point for garment sewing! The Scout Tee is a great top for the spring and summer and a great layering piece under blazers and cardigans the rest of the year.

Participants will learn to sew straight seams, apply bias facing, set sleeves and hem a garment. 

Ages 18+

Class Level: Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner classes are designed as “next step” classes to build basic skills. Sewing students must have taken Sewing 101 and/or be comfortable threading their machines and sewing simple projects.

Class Prep:

• Purchase Pattern: The Scout Tee by Grainline Studio.
• Sometimes the paper pattern is not available to the shop from the distributor in one or both size ranges. If we don't have the pattern in stock, students will need to purchase it here
• If you need to purchase the pattern download rather than the paper pattern and it's your first time doing that, please call or email the shop and we can guide you through how to print it or have it printed 
• Trace your size (if you want to preserve the other sizes for later use) or cut out your size if you are feeling bold!
• Wash and iron fabric 
  

Supplies (not included, but all materials purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount): 

• Fabric for your size based on pattern requirements
• Matching Thread and pre-wound bobbin in same thread
• Bias Binding (1 yard)
• Scout Tee pattern by Grainline Studio, available here.
• Replacement machine needle in case you accidentally break one in class
• Any pins/clips/scissors/rotary or other notions you like to use, alternatively you may use the classroom supplies
• Sewing machine that you know how to use or call the shop if you need to use one of the classroom machines
