Quilting School w/ Allison

Want to get started with quilting but not sure how to start? Quilting School will give you all the skills you need to sew your own quilts from picking fabric to styles of quilting and more! At the end of the class you will have completed a modern lap quilt with fabrics of your choice.

In this class, students will create a small throw of the Meadow Star Quilt Pattern, which you can get along with other supplies at Sew to Speak. 

Ages 18+

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner classes are designed as “next step” classes to build basic skills. Sewing students must have taken Sewing 101 and/or be comfortable threading their machines and sewing simple projects.

Supplies (Not included, but all materials purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount.):

• Fabric:
  • 9 Fat Quarters or 5 half yards
  • ½ yd of background fabric
  • 3 ¼ yards backing fabric

• Batting: 1 ¾ yd or enough for 56” x 56” square (Pellon 100% cotton or a bamboo/cotton blend are a great choice!)  
• Binding: ½ yd fabric
• Notions: Thread for piecing, matching thread for binding, safety pins/ quilting pins
• Pattern: Meadow Star Quilt  Pattern by Then Came June 

Optional Notions: (These tools are great if you have them, but if not, the shop will have these available during class.)

• Measuring tape
  
• Scissors or rotary cutter
• A fabric marker/chalk
• Seam gauge
• Seam ripper
• Sewing machine if you have one

Class Cancellation Policy

Please note on our cancellation policy for multi-week school classes - ie: Sewing School, Quilt School, Knitting & Sweater Schools, Garment Schools:

• Class cancellations made within four weeks of the class start date cannot be refunded, credited, or rescheduled.

If you must miss a class in a series, please contact the instructor for make-up options. The instructor may request that you schedule a private lesson in order to catch up or finish your project. Private Instruction fees are $35-$60 per hour.
