Description

Learn to knit in the round in this classic cuffed beanie class! Knitting 102 is a great follow up to Knitting 101, as students will continue to increase their skills while learning new techniques.

In this class students will learn:

knitting in the round.
how to change needle sizes.
how to decrease stitches.
Magic Loop or Double Pointed Needles technique for small circumference knitting.

Please note that there will be some homework between classes, and students must have taken Knitting 101 or have equivalent experience.

Ages 18+

Class Level: Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner classes are designed as “next step” classes to build basic skills. Knitting Students must have taken Knitting 101 and/or be comfortable with casting on, knitting, and purling.

Class Prep:

Purchase and wind yarn into a cake (if needed). If you need to wind yarn purchased at the shop, please arrive a few minutes early.
Print or download the free pattern from Ravelry or Purl Soho’s website.

Supplies (not included, but students receive 15% off on all supplies purchased at Sew to Speak):

Yarn: For an adult hat, we recommend one full sized skein of Malabrigo Rios or similar weight (worsted), at least 200 yards.
Needles: US 6 & US 7 16” circular needles for ribbing and body of hat. For top of hat decrease section, students can choose to use either US 7 double pointed needles (DPN) OR US 7 32” or longer circular needle (for Magic Loop).
Other supplies: measuring tape, small scissors, closed stitch markers, tapestry needle.
