In this class, students will learn the basics of knitting, and learn about needles and yarn during each lesson. For a first project students will make a soft, gorgeous washcloth. This class is broken up into two sessions, giving kids plenty of time to practice their new skills.
Class 1: Students will learn how to cast on and knit.
Class 2: More time to practice the knit stitch, casting on, and having questions answered. Students will also learn how to finish their project and weave in ends.
Ages 8-18
When choosing your class date, please note that we have two age group options available - Kids (8-13) and Teens (13-18).
Skill Level: True Beginner
No skills needed! True Beginner classes are great for beginners with no previous experience or for those who’d like to refresh their skills.

Class Prep:
- Purchase supplies, and make sure yarn has been wound (the Sew To Speak staff can help with this).
Supplies (not included, but supplies purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount):
Students are welcome to arrive 20 minutes prior to class to purchase materials with their instructor.
- 1 skein Blue Sky Organic Cotton yarn (or another worsted weight machine-washable yarn) - we recommend lighter colors so you can clearly see stitches.
- Size 8 or 10 knitting needles - straight or circular needles with a 16” cord.
