Intro to Bag Making: Foldable, Lined Tote Bag w/ Mallory

Learn the basics of bag making by sewing a fully lined tote bag that folds up into its own pocket! In this class students will learn how to make straps, box corners two ways, make a slip pocket, and insert a lining. 

This tote is the perfect size to store in your purse or car for an impromptu trip to the grocery, library, or wherever your adventures take you! 

This class is a great follow up lesson to Sewing 101. 

Ages 18+

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner classes are designed as “next step” classes to build basic skills. Sewing students must have taken Sewing 101 and/or be comfortable threading their machines and sewing simple projects.

Supplies (not included in the cost of this class): Please note that all materials purchased for this lesson at Sew To Speak receive a 15% discount.

• 1 yard quilting cotton* for the Exterior, straps, and pocket
• ½ yard quilting cotton* for the Interior
• 1 spool of coordinating thread
• Sewing Machine – we recommend that you bring your own machine so you can get used to using it but we do have machines available for students.
  
• Note- Quilting cotton is required. No canvas or heavier fabric. It is highly recommended that you purchase 44” wide yardage for this project and not bring scraps or other yardage. This will make the cutting process much easier. Stripes and directional prints are not recommended.
