Intermediate Knitting Skills: Agi the Sheep w/ Isabel

Ever wanted to create an adorable, seamless knitted toy? Join us for a special class and knit along where you'll learn to knit Agi the Sheep—a charming, fully seamless stuffed animal! Guided by Isabel, you’ll master the techniques needed to knit toys in the round, shape three-dimensional features, and create Agi’s delightful little face.

By the time Agi is done, knitters will have mastered skills including changing colors, increasing and decreasing stitches, and shaping with short rows. All of which are key skills for other projects including socks, sweaters, and more. In fact Agi’s little bottom is constructed almost exactly like turning the heel on a sock.

This class is perfect for knitters ready to expand their skills and also create a precious little toy.

Please note, that while this is an adorable stuffed animal, this is an adult only class. 

Class Overview

• Week 1 Class at the shop: Cast on, start shaping the head with short rows.
• Week 2 Knit Along at home: Finish shaping the the head.
• Week 3 Class at the shop: Place the eyes, embroider the nose and mouth, knit the ears. Shape the neck and set up the arms. Learn how to change colors to finish the arm hooves.
• Week 4 Knit Along at home: Finish the arms and knit the body.
• Week 5 Class at the shop: Shape the bottom and set up the legs.
• Week 6 Knit Along at home: Finish the legs and the hooves. 
  

Ages 18+

Class Level: Intermediate

Intermediate level classes are suited for makers who have taken 2-3 Advanced Beginner classes in their craft, and/or have made several projects on their own, and are feeling independent in their skills. Some classes may include pre-class prep to be completed on your own. Knitting & Crochet students must be comfortable with basic stitches within their crafts, reading simple patterns, and troubleshooting simple mistakes.

Supplies (Mostly not included in the cost of this class, but all materials purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount): 

Included in the cost of class:

• 6 mm Safety eyes
• Small pieces of felt for behind the eyes

Not Included: 

• Fingering weight yarn for sheep (25g, about 109 yards)
• Coordinating fingering weight yarn for the sheep hooves (5 g, about 22 yards)
• Choice of stuffing (polyester or wool)
• 2mm (US 0) needles and a second set in the same size to knit the ears (either circular needles with 32"-40" cables for magic loop, or double-pointed needles).
• Preferred locking stitch markers and stitch holder
• Tapestry needle
