Intermediate Knitting: Cat in a Box w/ Isabel

Join us to knit MochiMochi’s Cozy, Squozy Cat in a Box, the perfect teeny tiny project to grow your skills and use your scraps. After the class, students will have the skills to knit a small fleet of miniature cats and other creatures.

Skills taught in this class:

• Using double pointed needles for basic toy construction
• Working small circumferences in the round
• Picking up stitches to knit cubes to create your cat and box
• Creating an i-cord tail
• Stuffing and finishing techniques, including embroidering curious eyes and a perfect little nose. 
  

Ages 18+

Class Level: Intermediate

Intermediate level classes are suited for makers who have taken 2-3 Advanced Beginner classes in their craft, and/or have made several projects on their own, and are feeling independent in their skills. Some classes may include pre-class prep to be completed on your own. Knitting & Crochet students must be comfortable with basic stitches within their crafts, reading simple patterns, and troubleshooting simple mistakes.

Class Prep:

• Purchase supplies, and wind yarn (our Sew To Speak staff can help with this).
• Purchase and print the Cat in a Box pattern (available on Ravelry) prior to the first class. You can also purchase and print the pattern through the shop if you prefer.
  

• Supplies (not included): (students will receive a 15% discount on all class supplies purchased at Sew to Speak):

  • US 1 (2.25 mm) double-pointed needles or preferred needles for working very small circumferences

  • Fingering weight yarn in cat and box colors (small amounts; this is an excellent stash-busting project)

  • Polyester fiberfill stuffing

  • Tapestry needle

  • Stitch markers

  • Embroidery thread or scrap yarn for facial details
