Description

Let's crochet a cardigan together in this relaxing Crochet Make-a-Long.

How does a Make-a-Long work? Rather than taking place over a handful of consecutive weeks, this class will take place over 5 months, with 5 lessons/check-ins total. This allows students to work slower and enjoy the process, but still have the support and encouragement to finish their project.

The North Branch Cardigan would make a great first crochet garment project (but is not appropriate for first time crocheters), but is also suitable for advanced makers who enjoy community.

Before signing up, please review the class outline below.

October 5th: If participating in our yarn pre-order, students must be registered by this date. An email to order will be sent on October 5th. (More pre-order information is available under Class Prep.)
Class 1 (November 2): We'll meet to discuss sizing, gauge, and learn the 3-round granny square needed to complete the majority of this project.
Classes 2 & 3 (December 7, January 4): Consider these dates "check in" classes, as we continue crocheting together, discussing any hiccups and just enjoying the process.
Class 4 (February 1): We'll be nearing the end of our square making and talk about seaming and layout options.
Class 5 (March 1): We'll begin seaming our big panels together, discuss borders and trims, and wrap up any loose ends. If anyone falls behind, that's okay. You'll observe the skills needed to complete your project when ready.

Ages 18+

Class Level: Intermediate

Intermediate level classes are suited for makers who have taken 2-3 Advanced Beginner classes in their craft, and/or have made several projects on their own, and are feeling independent in their skills. Some classes may include pre-class prep to be completed on your own. Knitting & Crochet students must be comfortable with basic stitches within their crafts, reading simple patterns, and troubleshooting simple mistakes.

Class Prep:

Because this project recommends several skeins of Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light, there will be a pre-order available to order yarn in advance in your preferred colors. To be a part of the preorder, you must be registered by October 5th. A pre-order email will be sent and the deadline to place an order with payment will be October 12th. You do not have to take place in the pre-order to participate! But that window will be closed on October 12th, so you may not have access to your preferred colors or may need to find yarn elsewhere.

Supplies (not included, but all supplies purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount):

Garment sizes are XS(S, M, L, XL) (2X, 3X, 4X, 5X) or 28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42, 44-46) (48-50, 52-54, 56-58, 60-62)" around bust, around chest at underarms.

Recommended Yarn: Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light (218 yds), or most fingering weight yarns. 7 (8, 10, 11, 12) (14, 15, 16, 18) hanks of Color A, 2 hanks of Color B, 2 hanks of Color C needed. Use the sizing above to determine the number of Color A hanks needed.
Hook: Size C (2.75mm), or size needed to meet gauge.
