Curating Your Style with Capsule Collections w/ Brittany

This class is suitable for makers of any kind of wearable item, as well as non-makers!

This class is designed to break down the principles and practicalities behind a capsule wardrobe to help you curate items and outfits that feel like you and work for your lifestyle.

Capsule wardrobe approaches don’t have to be restrictive, boring, or minimalist. At its most basic, a capsule is simply a small, curated collection of items that work well with one another. Capsule collections can be an effective way to help makers plan their handmade items, integrate handmade and ready-to-wear items in their wardrobes, and get more use out of handmade items.

We’ll spend time reflecting on our style and lifestyles to define what we want out of a capsule collection. We’ll look at some fundamental components of style to find ways to create items and outfits that feel both personal and interesting. We’ll also talk about how you can choose an approach to creating a capsule collection and tailor it to your own needs.

In this class students will:

• Define their style using the three-word method.
• Apply the principles of harmony and contrast to:
  • Color
  • Silhouette
  • Fabrication
• Identify practical considerations for choosing a capsule approach.

Ages: 18+

Class Level: True Beginner

No skills needed! True Beginner classes are great for beginners with no previous experience or for those who’d like to refresh their skills.

Class Prep:

• Spend 10-15 minutes reviewing your wardrobe and identifying what is and is not working well for you.
