Brynn Cardigan w/ Haley

Upgrade your serger skills and make the Brynn Cardigan by True Bias!

This class will build upon the serger methods learned in other serger garment classes or on your own (you must have used a serger prior to taking this class, private lessons are available if needed), while making a fitted cardigan with buttonholes.

The Brynn Cardigan pattern comes in multiple views - sleeveless, short sleeve, and long sleeve options. Students are welcome to pick the view they would like make! You can truly make it your own. 

Class outline:
Session 1 (6/3): Cut out and sew together the body of the cardigan utilizing a serger. 
Session 2 (6/10): Place buttons and buttonholes on the cardigan using a sewing machine.

Ages: 18+

Skill Level: Advanced

Advanced classes are the most advanced of our lessons, for students who are eager to master more difficult techniques with some assistance. Students in each craft will need to have previously completed several projects on their own. 

Class prep: 

• Purchase the Brynn Cardigan Pattern PDF and have it printed before class.
  Local pattern printer, Josh Walker, can have this waiting for you at class time.
  You can email him at: ME@mixedethically.com. Alternatively you can print and assemble the pattern at home if you know how to do this accurately
  
• Check the website and your measurements before purchasing as pattern sizes are often different from ready to wear sizes (clothing you purchase).

Supplies (Not included in class, but students will receive a 15% discount on all class supplies purchased at Sew to Speak):

• Washed Knit Fabric, amount indicated for your size in pattern (suggested rib knits or 60-80% stretch fabric, shop staff are happy to help you figure out which fabrics will work)
  
• Knit Interfacing: Pellon EK130 Easy Knit, amount indicated for your size in pattern
  
• Number of buttons as per view being made- you are welcome to wait to get these and can pick them out at the shop before class 2
  
• Serger and matching threads (1st Session only) – please let us know if you would like to use one of the classroom sergers
• Sewing Machine & thread (2nd Session only)- please let us know if you would like to use one of the classroom sewing machines
• Stretch Double Needle (⅛” spacing) shop staff can help you find the perfect one for your project
• *If you prefer to trace out your pattern instead of cut it out, please purchase and bring tracing paper as well.
