Description

A perfect project for a beginner who knows how to operate their sewing machine. The Knot Bag is a simple and fun bag to sew. You will be introduced to some of the foundational aspects of bag making, including basic seam-hiding construction, adding handles and boxed corners. The finished bag is ideal for a small tote or project/knitting bag. Once you make one you won't be able to stop! A great scrap-buster for more experienced sewists too!

Ages 16+

Materials Needed (not included in class cost - students will receive a 15% discount on supplies purchased at Sew to Speak)
  • 1/2 yard exterior bag fabric (cotton or light to mid-weight canvas)
  • 1/2 yard lining fabric (cotton)
  • 1-2 yards Shape Flex (SF101) (If using cotton weight fabric for both exterior and lining you will need 2 yards of SF101, if you are using canvas for your exterior fabric you will only need 1 yard SF101, if you're not sure it's ok! You'll have access to purchase more SF101 as needed during class time).
  • In addition, you are welcome to bring your own machine, pins, clips, scissors, seam ripper, and rotary cutter, or you can plan to use class supplies.
Please indicate when registering if you need to use a classroom sewing machine (rather than bringing your own)

Class prep: To maximize sewing time during class, please iron the shape flex interfacing to the wrong side of exterior fabric pieces during class. If you don't know what this means, we can help you at the shop!
