Description

Your next intermediate level crochet project - a beautiful granny stitch cardigan! The construction with this one is unique, starting with two hexagon shaped grannies that are then joined together. Also unique - this pattern is made to measure from your own body measurements, to ensure a comfortable fit.

Here is an outline of our class schedule (subject to change, if needed):
  • Week 1 (4/15): Discuss and confirm our schematic and size options. Begin Base Hexagon pattern.
  • Week 2 (4/22): Continue working pattern, discuss the Widening of the Body section of our pattern.
  • Week 3 (4/29): (no class - continue working on Base Hexagons and Widening, both will need to be completed by class on Week 4).
  • Week 4 (5/6): Cover and begin the Widening the Neck section of our pattern.
  • Week 5 (5/13): Cover and begin the sections Sleeves & Adding Length.
  • Week 6 (5/20): Begin Collar section (discuss options) and discuss finishing.

Prior to class, your instructor, Rachael, will send a detailed email to help you choose the best yarn, make a gauge swatch, and choose the correct hook size for your project.

Skill Level: Intermediate. This is NOT a beginner level class, but it is an intermediate level crochet class. Students will need to already be comfortable with single crochet, double crochet, and granny squares.

Ages 17+

Supplies (not included, but all supplies purchased at Sew To Speak will receive a 15% discount):

Yarn: Please choose a DK or Worsted weight yarn in the amounts listed below. This is a great stashbuster project, but we recommend Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted for this project, due to its lightweight texture.

Bust Measurement 28"-34" - 500g DK or 600g Worsted
36"-42" - 700g DK or 800g Worsted
44"-48" - 800g DK or 1050g Worsted
52"-58" - 1000g DK or 1200g Worsted
60"-62" - 1200g DK or 1300g Worsted

Note - You may want to consider buying a little extra yarn for this project. If you do have yarn left over, and it's still unwound, you will be able to return the yarn you don't use. We did use a little more yardage for our samples than we expected based on measurements.

Hook: Size needed to make gauge (hook size will vary based on chosen yarn).
