Embellished Storage Tote w/ Kam

Sew this handy, stylish tote that is perfect to carry your latest project or can function as a delightful organizer. The curved gusset is a design element that also provides for a roomy interior. Create this tote with a few of your favorite patterned fabrics or opt for a minimalist feel and show off your creativity by adding various hand stitching details and fabric patches.

Ages 18+

Skill Level: Intermediate

Intermediate level classes are suited for makers who have taken 2-3 Advanced Beginner classes in their craft, and/or have made several projects on their own, and are feeling independent in their skills. Some classes may include pre-class prep to be completed on your own. Sewing students must be comfortable threading their machines, following a seam allowance, changing presser feet, and troubleshooting minor machine issues.

• ¾ yd main exterior fabric (midweight cotton, canvas, twill or linen fabrics
  recommended)
• ¼ yd accent exterior fabric
• ¾ yd lining fabric (medium or lightweight cotton or linen recommended)
• 1 yd ShapeFlex 101
• ¾ yd of 1 ½” or 2’ wide cotton webbing
• Sewing thread
• General sewing supplies
• OPTIONAL Supplies:
  - Various 2’ – 6” fabric scraps for accent patches
  - Embroidery floss or perle cotton for hand stitching
  - Embroidery needle

Additional Optional supplies (students can bring their own, or they can use the ones provided in the Sew to Speak classroom):

• Rotary cutter, ruler, mat
• Scissors, seam ripper, pins and/or wonder clips
• Frixion pen
• Small sewing ham
• Zipper foot

Please make sure to purchase fabric and supplies ahead of class. No need to wash fabric unless you intend to wash the tote in which case fabric should be laundered and ironed.
