Calling all bag makers and aspiring bag makers!
Join expert bag maker Kam of @Studiochopstix and kick your bag game into gear! You will learn how to piece a bag and gain hot tips for getting a professional finish.
In this class you will make the Redwood Tote by the amazing bag designer @Noodlehead and you will learn skills that are transferable to all of their patterns as well as other bag patterns including:
- Getting organized
- Cutting your templates
- Placing a pocket zipper
- Making handles
- Adding bag hardware
- Sewing over thick layers of fabric and interfacing
Supplies (Not included in the class, but students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies purchased at Sew to Speak)
- Redwood Tote pattern
- 1/2 yd Exterior fabric (bag exterior, base)
- 3/4 yd lining fabric (lining, pockets, handles)
- 2 1/2 yds Pellon Shape Flex 101 interfacing
- 7" zipper (front pocket)
- 13" zipper (top closure)
- 2 - 1" wide D-rings*
- 2 - 1" wide swivel clasps*
- 1 - 1" wide strap slider*
- 2" x 11" Pellon 72F
- 60" 1" wide strap webbing
- Matching thread(s)
- Zipper pull embellishment (optional)
*Hardware can be purchased as a set in the Basic Hardware Set by Sallie Tomato
Optional supplies (students can bring their own, or they can use the ones provided in the Sew to Speak classrom:
- Rotary cutter, ruler, mat
- Scissors, seam ripper, pins and/or wonder clips
- Frixion pen
- Small sewing ham
- Zipper foot
*To maximize class time fore sewing/assembly of the tote, please fuse SF101 to the back side of fabrics before class*
There will be a break for lunch, so students should pack a lunch or prepare to Door Dash
