Emotional Support Chicken w/ Shannon

Join Shannon in knitting your very own Emotional Support Chicken! This pattern by Anette Corsino is taking the knitting world by storm. It is a wonderful gift, stuffed animal, best friend, or home decoration - all while being extremely huggable. 

This project is excellent for stash-busting, and most yarns will work! The pattern is designed for worsted weight yarn (and US 7 needles) but you can use anything you would like as long as you match the needles to your yarn! The stitches need to be just tight enough so the filling does not fall out. If choosing a bulky yarn your chicken will be larger, or a thinner yarn will make your chicken smaller. 

This class is for an intermediate knitter who is comfortable with knitting and purling. 

Skills to be learned: decreasing, short rows, pick-up and knit, assembling (who knew so many skills could come from one chicken?!)

Ages 18+

Class 1: TAIL: Cast on, work in short rows, discuss bind off methods. 
Class 2: CHICKEN BODY: Pick up and knit, continue working short rows of body. 
Class 3: Comb, Wattle, Assembly, Stuffing, Chicken HUGS!

Materials: 

YARN: worsted weight yarn of your choice (or similar - visit the shop and see what speaks to you!) 
- Main color for body: 200 yards
- Stripes color for body: 100 yards

Size US 7 needles (or size needed for your yarn weight) 
Removable stitch markers 
Crochet hook (optional)
Tapestry needle

- 1 pair of safety eyes
- Yarn for beak (yellow - worsted weight, 4 yards)*
- Yarn for Comb & Wattle (red - worsted weight, 6 yards)*

* note - worsted weight yarn for the beak, wattle and comb will be included, but please bring your own if you want something specific!
