Description
For anyone new to quilting, this class will teach you the basics of quilting! We will create a patchwork throw pillow as we practice and build on our skills. Students will learn to cut their fabric, piece together squares, and leave with a completed patchwork throw pillow. Students will be introduced to the anatomy of a quilt, how to iron and cut fabric, and learn all of the steps to leave them with a foundation for their future quilting endeavors!
Previous experience required for this class: Kids sewing 101 or equivalent experience-need to know how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, sew in a straight (ish!) line, and back stitch.
Ages 8+
Supplies: not included, receive a 15% discount all supplies purchased for class at Sew to Speak
- 4 fat quarters for the front of the pillow
- 3/4 yard quilting cotton for pillow back
- Matching thread
- 18" pillow form
- 1/2 yard of batting
- Sewing machine (students are also welcome to Sew to Speak classroom machines)
Students should pick out their fabric before the class!
