This one of a kind quilted stocking brings a minimalist beauty to Christmas. A great scrap buster, this project combines improvisational machine piecing with Sashiko inspired hand quilting.
Sewing Experience:
Beginner: If you can sew in a straight line, you can do this

Materials: not included, but students receive 15% off when shopping for class supplies at Sew to Speak!  Discount can only be taken in the shop.  Just let the sales associate know you are shopping for a class.
  • 1/2 yard lining fabric (quilting cotton)
  • The equivalent of a 1/2 yard of fabric scraps of any size. You can use quilting cotton only, or add in denim, linen, or canvas. Upcycled clothing could also work great.
  • 1/2 yard quilt batting
  • Matching all purpose thread for piecing
  • Sashiko thread or embroidery floss
  • Sashiko or embroidery needle
  • Fabric marking tool (tailor's chalk or disappearing marker)
  • Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler
  • Sewing machine 
  • Safety pins for basting
  • Straight pins
  • Fabric marking tool (tailor's chalk or disappearing marker)
