This one of a kind quilted stocking brings a minimalist beauty to Christmas. A great scrap buster, this project combines improvisational machine piecing with Sashiko inspired hand quilting.

Sewing Experience:
Beginner: If you can sew in a straight line, you can do this

Materials:
1/2 yard lining fabric (quilting cotton)
The equivalent of a 1/2 yard of fabric scraps of any size. You can use quilting cotton only, or add in denim, linen, or canvas. Upcycled clothing could also work great.
1/2 yard quilt batting
Matching all purpose thread for piecing
Sashiko thread or embroidery floss
Sashiko or embroidery needle
Fabric marking tool (tailor's chalk or disappearing marker)
Tools:
Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler
Sewing machine 
Safety pins for basting
Straight pins
Fabric marking tool (tailor's chalk or disappearing marker)
