Description

Get ready for Holiday cookies, cakes, pies, oh my! In this quilted oven mitt class you will learn the basics of quilting a solid piece of fabric, sewing bias binding, and best materials to use to create a heat safe mitt. You will walk away with your own handmade oven mitt perfect for gifting, or keep it for yourself to show off at the holidays.

Ages 18+

Before class:  Purchase fabric and pre-wash and dry   

Materials needed: (materials are not included in class cost, but students will receive a 15% discount on class supplies purchased at Sew to Speak)

-2 Fat Quarters of cotton fabric (one for outer, and one for lining)
- ½ yard insul-bright
- ½ yard cotton batting
-1 yard bias binding

Students will need to bring the following supplies:
-Sewing machine (Machines are available to borrow. Please call the store ahead of time to reserve if needed).
-Walking foot (recommended for quilting, but optional)
- Chalk or marking tool
- Sewing machine needles
- Pins or wonder clips 
- Thread and bobbin
