Want more help cutting out your pattern pieces and making pattern adjustments?  Sign up for the optional Thayer Jacket Pattern Prep day on Saturday, Feb 15 from 12pm-2pm!  (Separate fee and registration for optional prep time with your instructor.) Come to class on Sunday, Feb 16 with your pattern and fabric cut out and ready to sew!


Sunday, Feb 16 Workshop info:

Sew a workwear-inspired jacket using the Thayer Jacket pattern by Grainline Studio.  Pattern is available in sizes 0-30. This one day jacket-sewing intensive will focus on sewing skills such as setting in sleeves, simple collars, contrast topstitching, and inserting a coat lining.  Lunch is INCLUDED in this one day workshop.  

This size inclusive dressmaking workshop is being taught by Jennifer Garvic, blogger and seamstress from A Maker Heart.  The Thayer Jacket is an advanced beginner pattern and perfect for those who have sewn some basic garments but are ready to advance their skills. 

Sewing 101 or equivalent sewing experience required.  This class is recommended for ages 16 and up.  

Thayer Jacket Pattern is available as a paper or PDF pattern.  Pattern can be purchased in size 0-18 or size 14-30. PDF pattern can be purchased in size 0-30.  Paper pattern available for purchase at Sew To Speak. Paper and PDF pattern can also be purchased from Grainline Studio  Fabric including corduroy, denims, twills, wools, and flannels are available for purchase at Sew To Speak Shoppe.  Pattern sample is sewn in corduroy, flannel, and rayon (for sleeve lining) from Sew To Speak Shoppe.  


2 to 3 ¼ yards of medium to heavy weight woven fabrics such as denim, twill, corduroy, or canvas (amount based on size)

1 to 2 yards of warm medium to heavyweight fabrics such as cotton shearling, fleece, or flannel)

1 to 1 5/8 yards of sleeve lining fabric (woven quilted lining fabrics or a double layer of rayon or polyester over flannel).  

1/2 yard of woven fusible interfacing such as SF101

Coordinating thread, topstitching thread, topstitching needles, fusible interfacing, eight 5/8˝ buttons

Additional supplies such as sewing machine, cutting tools, etc can be borrowed from Sew To Speak or brought in from home for class.
