Description
Join Dr. Janette Knowles, head of the Art Department and Director of Wehrle Gallery at Ohio Dominican University, in this afternoon exploring the fine art of “discharge dyeing,” in which color is “discharged” from cloth through the use of bleach. Workshop participants will be introduced to two methods- shibori, in which the cloth is folded or bound before it is put in bleach resulting in elaborate patterns; and resist, in which plant forms will be placed on cloth before bleaching. Both techniques result in really stunning results!
Participants will need two yards of black 100% cotton or linen fabric that has been washed in detergent and dried with no dryer sheet. They should also bring scissors and wear an apron or smock.
This class will be held outside on the lawn in front of Sew to Speak
