We apologize for the inconvenience but this class will be rescheduled at a later date. Stay tuned for new date.

Up your indigo shibori game in this introduction to stitched shibori techniques taught by Janette Knowles, head of the Art Department at Ohio Dominican University. You’ll learn about various historic traditions of stitched shibori and learn how to do several of the techniques to create gorgeous patterns on dyed fabric.  We’ll dye our pieces in an indigo vat and you can take them home to use in another project or frame them as a work of art unto themselves!

Each student will get a kit with fabric samples (many vintage!), stitching thread, various stitched shibori materials such as beads, as well as printed materials about the specific techniques of stitched shibori.

Students should bring a few needles, pins, scissors, and some threads you want to experiment with (Janette will bring the thread she uses most) as well as a pencil to mark your fabric patterns. You’ll need a pair of rubber gloves (disposable ones are fine) and should wear an apron or clothing that may get some indigo on it.
