Join Dr. Janette Knowles, art professor and gallery director at Ohio Dominican University and maker-artist, as she introduces the Japanese mending technique of boro. Popular in contemporary fashion, boro has ancient origins in rural Japan and primarily involved cloth of indigo. Participants will learn about the history of boro, look at some examples, and learn basic techniques. They’ll be given a kit with everything in it to make two indigo boro pieces which can be used as wall hangings, an element of clothing, or the beginnings of a larger piece. All supplies are included.
